Planet vs. Plastics

Earth Day is an annual celebration that promotes support for the Environment. Organised every year since 1970 on 22 April by the EARTHDAY.ORG, the theme for this year's World Earth Day is "Planet vs. Plastics”, which calls for a 60% reduction in plastic manufacturing by 2040.

At ReNew, we recognize our responsibility towards the planet and are dedicated to creating a more sustainable and healthier world for all. On this Earth Day, we focus on raising awareness about the pressing environmental issue of Plastic Pollution and how it impacts life on Earth.

ReNew's efforts in this direction

Eliminating Single-Use Plastics:

We discourage the in-house purchase and use of single-use plastics within our premises by providing sustainable alternatives like glass and metal bottles, bone-china cups and plates, steel cutleries, and paper straws.

Plastic Transformation:

In FY 22, we collected a total of 160 kg of plastic waste, which we transformed into benches for our employees. Each bench is made up of 20 kg of net plastic waste.

Recycling and Composting Responsibly:

Through diligent waste segregation and collaboration with government-authorized recyclers, we ensure that 100% of our waste is diverted from landfills.

Use of Sustainable Materials:

Use of Sustainable Materials: We prioritize using sustainable materials like microplastics-free green chemicals for floor cleaning and opt for emulsions over plastic paints to minimize our environmental impact. ReNew also promotes the use of sustainable materials by employees, and providing jute bags for carrying inventory or daily items is one such initiative.

Advocating for Policy Change

We actively support policies and initiatives aimed at reducing plastic usage and promoting sustainable practices at local, national, and global levels.

Plastic collection drive:

This year on Earth Day, we are conducting a week-long plastic collection drive (15th to 19th April 2024) wherein we are encouraging all our employees to participate and donate plastic waste from their homes/ office spaces etc.

Join us in making a difference this Earth Day and beyond.

Together, let's build a healthier, more sustainable planet for all.
